People like myself have always wondered who and where are those Trump voters. Less than a dozen of my 400+ Facebook friends have officially endorsed Trump. At work, I barely know a handful who support him. In fact, I have seen bumper stickers with Hillary and Bernie at work, but never seen a single one with Trump. In my neighborhood, I have seen two yard signs for Trump. Of course, it doesn’t mean there aren’t any supporters of Trump around. Many of them might not be vocal.
I also play lots of team sport (Soccer, Basket Ball) and none of my team mates has publicly expressed support for Trump. So, I have always wondered … where are those Trump Supporters …
Reading an article online the other day, I think I found part of the answer:
According to a Bleacher Report straw poll of 43 NFL players released Wednesday, 21 of 21 white players surveyed plan to vote for Donald Trump, while only two out of the 22 African-American players asked plan to back the Republican nominee on Nov. 8.
The other 20 black players said they would vote for Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.
Yes, this is not a scientific poll and doesn’t. But I have to admit, I’m really shocked that 100% of the White players in this poll would vote for a Racist, a Bigot, a “Pathological Liar”, a Misogynist, … I always thought that Team Sport was a place where diversity and inclusion set an example for our complex society. I always thought that players being exposed to people from different races and background would be more adept to spot a Racist and reject racist demagogues. Well, I was wrong.
Doug Baldwin ( a very vocal NFL player) said this week that one NFL owner has ordered his players to stand during the national anthem, he told Bill Simmons in an interview with HBO's Any Given Wednesday. This was reported in Sports Illustrated.
You’re going to stand on the line with your hand on your heart and you’re going to sing the national anthem because this is my stage.
On a side note: Of course Trump once owned a Football Franchise: The New Jersey Generals in the 1980s. Of course it was HUGE, of course he bankrupted the Franchise. Of course, he sold it. Of course there were plenty of lawsuits during his time with Professional Football …
