I just finished watching Hillary and Tim Kaine in Miami. I have always been a believer that having a positive attitude helps tremendously. I liked the positive energy they seem to have as a team and I am glad they didn't use the time to just totally trash their opponents and instead, focused on how we, as Americans, can get so much done when we come together to handle problems. And my mind immediately went to 911 when responders walked up the stairs that would lead to their deaths, all the while assuring those descending that things would work out okay, to just keep moving. They never asked anyone who they had voted for or what nationality they were. They just forged ahead because that was their job and they gave their all without question. I only wish politicians could follow their lead and work together hand in hand to make a better life for ourselves and for all of our children.
Many of the people I work with are voting for Trump. Due to time management issues, and not wanting to alienate ourselves from each other, we aren't really able to discuss the issues intelligently. Yet, when we get busy, we are able to come together to get the job done as a team; helping each other and listening to each other and laughing when it is over.
There are several reasons why I just can't vote for Trump. My co-workers like him because he tells it like it is. For me, that is not enough. First of all, I believe he would be a very lazy president. I say this because since he has won the nomination, he doesn't seem to be growing or getting any smarter on key issues or having a better understanding on how the government works. Making America great is easy to put on a hat; but in order to build a greater America, one would need to begin with a strong and solid foundation. And that foundation would begin with a clear picture of the end result you want to see and that would require extensive study, planning, concentration and skill that I just don't see Donald Trump wanting to put the time in to achieve. And if he is going to let others do it for him and just put his name on it, I'd like to know just who these others are before I could cast a vote for the project.
Another thing that worries me is the enjoyment that presents itself on his face while playing on people's fears. We don't need a Ripper to scare us; we need a Leader to not just make us feel safe but to work to make us safe. We don't need a contractor to build walls; we need a project manager to create an environment where people enjoy working and coming together to get the job done and then be able to bask during their time off in a united society. His threatening those who disagree with him...bankruptcies, lawsuits, three marriages, non payment of workers who held signed contracts, his remarks that he could kill anyone on 5th Avenue and get away with it, making fun of those with disabilities, his suggestion of doing away with the Geneva Convention, if Ivanka wasn't his daughter perhaps he'd be dating her, nuclear arms are not off the table, punishing abortion doctors, he thinks the EPA and their rules are a disgrace, he would defund Planned Parenthood, promised to overturn marriage equality, talks of firing members of the supreme court (has no grasp on how our government works), has no intention of enacting any kind of gun control laws; he wants to completely overhaul our current tax codes, dismantle Obamacare...the list just goes on and on. For a man who must be very well-traveled, he seems to be completely uneducated about the geography of our planet. He abhors intelligent women and when tested by them, lashes out on their looks. And for me, a very important minus is the fact that he does not read.
I just want to vote in this election for a team that knows how our government operates and can begin to work on day one with a positive attitude and dreams of continuing to make this country greater than it already is.
I'm sure Mr. Trump is a very loving father and husband; but I just don't think he is ready for prime time. If this was an election to consider the best reality game show person, I would pick Gordon Ramsey. And I totally respect everyone out there who do not share my own views. I just wanted to put it out there....
