Happy * New Day * folks, lets strive to make it a great one!
I was hanging out with my really, really close friends this weekend. It occurred to me that we're pretty homogeneous, meaning we're all pretty much the same exact type: middle class, educated, Gen X black males from Philly. We're mostly from the same frickin' NEIGHBORHOOD, lol. And it's weird. I met some of these guys in college, hundreds of miles away from that neighborhood.
This is what I call my "close circle of friends." Vee, Rell, Bill, Jeff, Chuck, Tiz, Wanz, Geo... all the type I described above.
Now I do have people I consider friends who are most assuredly not that type. I've got rich white friends from the neighborhood we moved to when I was in high school, plus working class ethnic whites, people I've connected with on my nationwide/worldwide travels, people I've met other places online, and Kossacks I've met, all of whom run the gamut of humanity.
But my core? My squad? My clique? They're just like me. We're not diverse, lol. (Although... that COULD be a pic of our arms up there, lol, even still.)
How about you? Is Your Circle of Friends Diverse?
