I am sitting with about 300 other citizens summoned to jury duty. I look around & am kinda happy. Everyone made an effort. Everyone is dressed nicely. Everyone seems nice. Officials are most apologetic about causing us to come here. They let us use Internet. We get to keep our cell phones. We get to eat snacks. Have a lunch break. Free parking. They pay us.
I am happy. I am never picked but am always hopeful. Sorta like dodgeball in elementary school. I view this the same way as having the right to vote. It is my privilege because I live here. So I sit through the videos, the lectures, the instructions & I smile.
I have jury duty.
