Over at C&L today, John Amato posted about an NBC story asking if Rush has gotten away with his racist parody, "Barack the Magic Negro." It seems he has. In fact, I wrote a song about it which you can hear here.
Not that we've had anything else to focus on... Comey's testimony, Gonzo's continued perjury, Iraq, Iraq, Iraq, but I think we really have missed an opportunity to imus our fat friend (I believe we can use imus as a verb now).
Rush himself warned reporters on his show that there is "nothing there," and that if they researched this story "they'd be sorry," presumably because the term "Magic Negro" was originally spoken in reference to Barack in an LA Times Editorial and the term itself supposedly derives from Spike Lee. But this argument is basically the same as "it's okay for me to tell a racist joke if I heard it from a black man."
