For those of you who have read my contribution to the GUS (Give Up Smoking) diaries, you already know that I recently celebrated my 10 years off smoking.
As I look back, I can't believe it sometimes. When I smoked, I really smoked. I smoked when I awoke in the morning. I smoked waiting for the bus or on my walk to the train. I smoked in my college dorm. I sneaked cigarettes in my office. At my old boyfriend's apartment, I hung my head out the window.
I recall one day after I quit, my sister said to me, "I never thought you'd do it." Yes, I did.
