The Connecticut Senate passed the Civil Unions Bill.
Now it's up to the House and the Governor...
Should someone lose their home when their partner dies?
Should someone be denied the right to visit their life-partner in the hospital because a parent "doesn't approve"?
Should partners owning a business be forced to sell if one of the partners die?
If you're life-partner isn't of the opposite sex, these (and other) injustices can occur, with no legal recourse. Civil Unions IS a moral issue: it's immoral to deny the rights to inheritance, visitation in the hospital, custody.
Civil Unions is a legal civil rights issue.
My legislator says it's a matter of what the majority of her constituents want...
But the purpose of laws is to protect the minority!
