There is an excellent article in the American Prospect (
http://www.prospect.org/...) which summarizes the GOP propensity to cheat to try to win and how they did it this year. Now that the election is over and we won, what are we going to do about this for 2008?
I don't think there is any question that several of the very close house races were impacted by the GOP's sleazy campaign tactics last week. Hopefully the FBI will catch whoever made the illegal phone calls in Virginia ("Do not vote tomorrow or you will be arrested.") But, as the Prospect article points out, GOP cheating (and yes it is cheating) is practically genetically mandated for them. My question is, what if anything can we do about this? It seems to me that just planning for it to happen and trying to overcome it is not good enough. We need to start nipping this garbage in the bud. We'll have both houses of Congress soon, shouldn't some investigations be held on exactly how sleazy the GOP was this election? Can't a campaign reform law be passed to prevent this from happening again?
