Barack Obama will not only be America's first black President, but the first black President of any G8 superpower.
Much discussion has already occurred on the impact that Barack Obama's election as the America's first black president may have on this nation's race relations. However, on a global scale, he will also be the first black president of any of the current G8 nations, perhaps putting him in a better position to create global change than any other leader in recent history. While the glass ceiling for women presidencies in GE countries has long since been shattered with leaders like Margaret Thatcher of Britain and Angela Merkel of Germany - the racial divide has never been crossed for a black president of any of the leading global economic powers.
