There is a lot of speculation as to why Evan Bayh is suddenly leaving the Senate and why he is doing so in such a surprising and last minute manner. I have been working all day on historical and social analysis bringing in numerous factors and having used complex computer modeling to play out different scenarios. Here is what I have come up with.
- Why is Evan Bayh leaving the Senate?
Answer: He is cashing in.
- Why did Evan Bayh choose to leave the Senate at such a late date?
Answer: He is cashing in and the people he is cashing in with wanted to be sure he would be replaced by the right type of person.
- From a complex, theoretical model taking into account time frame, possible political waves, and reactions of both authoritarian oriented and more progressive oriented voters which party and/or agenda does Bayh's actions benefit?
Answer: Evan Bayh doesn't give a damn because he is cashing in.
- Which Indiana figure other than Evan Bayh does his sudden retirment help the most?
Answer: Evan Bayh's wife
- A detailed analysis of exactly how this helps this second Indiana figure.
Answer: Evan Bayh is cashing in
- How will this sudden retirement impact Indiana's delegation.
Answer: Everybody else is going to see how much Evan Bayh gets from cashing in and they will want to cash in too
- To what degree does this affect Bayh's political future?
Answer: It doesn't affect his future at all because cashing in is what politicians do.
- What is Bayh's next likely role in government?
Answer: Secretary of the Treasury.
This took an enormous amount of hard work and my brain hurts.
