You think this was an "accident...?"
Liberal dupes!
That's what they want you to think!
The real "adults," the cooler heads - the conservatives - who are all into conservation, natch - over at Free Republic (find your own way there if you like; ain't gonna link) aren't fooled by what they see in the lib media, no sir! They see right through this pitiful charade, trying to gin up sympathy for tree-hugging, America-hating envirowhackos. This is a MANUFACTURED CRISIS!
Evidence? Over the fold.
from today's FReep:
Terrorism ... ??
The environmental loons have done worse to get their way.
You damn right this is probably sabotage and if the entire crew of this rig were back ground checked some where I smell a muslim of the same quality as 911 pilots.
Typical liberal Luddites. Despite decades of modern data on the relatively low risk of leaks from today’s offshore drilling technology, they’ll react to a single incident instead of to the overall facts.
Oh, yeah! They got us all figgered out. We libs don't know that it takes a minimum of ten eco-disasters to merit notice, let alone action.
Everything is a crisis for Obama. He’s a drama queen. Has he cried yet?
Why does a BP owned rig, built by South Korea, blowing up in the gulf, have anything to do with US drilling?
Hey! That's exactly what I was thinking! Drill, baby, drill! USA ALL THE WAY FUCK YEEAAAHHHH!!!
This is nothing. in all , the oil spill is a lousy 500,000 barrels (even including the next 90 days) . The Valdez oil spill was 11 MILLION.!!!! The ocean takes care of the oil just fine. Drill baby drill.
Nothing. Nothing at all. Move along, people.
Maybe I'm "unenlightened", but I don't see the big deal. Naturally occurring Oil seepage from the Gulf occurs, slightly less due to oil drilling. And somehow "nature" has survived!
Maybe?! MAYBE you're "unenlightened?"
I look forward to seeing video of Sierra Club volunteers wiping oil off of mosquitoes, muskrats and nutria. Are there any water moccasins in that area? lol
lol!
White House: Oil spill could affect drilling plan
Chortle!
That didn't take long did it?
I was wondering how long it'd take the Kenyan to exploit one oil spill to further crush any attempts to drill in this country yet again.
Is there ANYTHING this regime does, which is not 100% guided by scoring cheap political points? I doubt it.
Not the last time I checked. Chortle.
Do you expect the New York Slimes to say any different? Their agenda is for America to stop using gasoline, and therefore stop using cars (the symbol of freedom in America). Then, we can all use government-subsidized mass transit, turning us into good little Socialists and also making us easier targets for terrorists, thus turning us into another Socialists’ wet dream, VICTIMS.
You’re abslutely right: whatever happens HAPPENS.
Drill here & drill NOW.
You wait wat’s goingt o happen when the first global-warmisth storm hits.
I live on the gulf (GOM) and enjoy offshore fishing and am not worried about this spill. It is light crude and GOM waters are warm enough to dissipate the oil. However, some fishermen in the bayou areas of Louisiana and Mississippi seem to be worried about Redfish spawning and oyster beds being affected. That plus tourist tarballs at the beaches are my only concerns. The long term effects will be minimal if anything imo.
Aaaaand...The Winner!
That would be awful if the slick reached New Orleans...
and then the levies broke again...
and then they set the slick on fire...
Awful!...
Runner-Up:
This is going to be used as an argument against oil drilling.
Fairness disclaimer: there were also a number of sane comments there. They were a distinct minority, though.
Update:
While there's not yet any indication as to what caused the disasterous [sic] explosion that sunk a British Petrolium [sic] drilling platform in the Gulf of Mexico, right-wing radio personality Rush Limbaugh has come up with a rather coy suggestion: "environmentalist wackos" did it.
Noting that the explosion happened on Earth Day, the man sometimes known as the GOP's de-facto leader spun a web of happenstance in which "the jury" was "still out," but "the regime" will let everyone know what really went down.
"The carbon tax bill, cap and trade, that was scheduled to be announced on Earth Day," Limbaugh said, arguing that "hardcore environmentalist wackos" were opposed to its allowances for more nuclear power and more offshore drilling.
"What better way to head off more oil drilling, nuclear plants, than by blowing up a rig?" he rhetorically asked. "I'm just, I'm just noting the timing here."
'nother update: thanks for the recs. woo!
