Well, I'm not sure how to feel about what happened in WI last night. On 1 hand, I'm thrilled that Dems won in 2 GOBP - heavy districts & that a couple of true boils on the butt of humanity can do no further harm in the state Senate. On the other hand, though, knowing the bald spot reptile brain of Governor Scotty, I imagine he's gonna feel he still has free reign with a little help from his "friends" to wreck havoc with people's lives.
The Kochtopus tentacles reach far & deep, I'm afraid. *&^%$#@!
Let's go on to "this day in history." On this date in 1988, President Ronald Reagan signed a measure providing $20,000 payments to Japanese-Americans interred by the U.S. government during World War II. Yea, $20K makes up for deprivation of livelihood, property, and civil rights; remember, these were American citizens!
Eddie Fisher was born on this date in 1928. He's famous for a few things. He's Carrie's Dad, he screwed around on his wife, Debbie Reynolds, & threw her over for Elizabeth Taylor, and then Elizabeth Taylor screwed around on him with Richard Burton. Got all that? ;D Rin - Tin - Tin died on this date in 1932; here's a ditty just for him!
Finally, happy 53rd anniversary to my Mom & Dad and happy 16th birthday to my nephew - who wants to be a history teacher! :D
Let's Countdown!
David Shuster is pinch - hitting for Keith tonight; mucho appreciado, but I hope Keith's OK!
#5 "Super Friends" AKA "Deficit Fixers?" - The "super Congress" is beginning to take shape. Today, Speaker Sobbing Small Price to Pay Goldilocks picked Reps. Jeb Hensarling (Bat$hit - TX), Dave Camp (Bat$hit - MI), and Fred Upton (Bat$hit - MI). Senator Mitchie the Turtle McConnell picked Senators Jon "Kookie" Kyl (Bat$hit - Show Me Your Papers State), Rob Portman (Bat$hit - OH), and Pat Toomey (Bat$hit - PA). Yea, things are just going to go swimmingly.
David reminded us of who Senate "Majority" "Leader" Reid picked. *&^%$#@! Most Americans want a true compromise plan including both spending cuts AND tax increases for the super rich. Some of President Obama's plan will be part of whatever "grand deal" he brokered with the Speaker Sobber. Most Americans don't think our political system is working. Felicia Sonmez gets "super Congress" duty. She had some guesses of who Nancy Pelosi might pick, and it would appear there won't be any barn - burners coming from her, either. A majority on this "super Congress" have to agree to the cuts and/or revenue increases. Well...
Senator Patty Murray is also the chief fundraiser in charge of Dem Senators, so there might be a bit of a conflict of interest along the way. Bill Press gets "super Congress" duty, too! All 6 GOBPers on the "super Congress" signed that cursed Grover Norquist no - tax - increase $hit. The potential triggers should this "super Congress" do what most people think they will do are supposed to be incentives for these peeps to cooperate; I agree with Bill Press - not bloody likely! Mr. Press has some Constitutional concerns about this "super Congress," too. Who (if anyone) is in a position to sue on these grounds - the ACLU?
#4 "Paying and Praying" - Mittens Romney & Governor Secessionist are saying "thanks but no thanks" to participating in that straw poll on Saturday; well, Governor Secessionist isn't officially a candidate - yet. Thanks to Citizens United, a whole mess of bat$hit super PACs are spending a whole lot of bat$hit coin on negative ads so candidates don't have to. 6 different groups are working on behalf of Governor Secessionist. Good sparking Gawd, if you close your eyes & listen to him, he sparking SOUNDS like GWB!!
And, there's Bat$hit Bachmann. I broke down & read Ryan Lizza's New Yorker article. Boys & girls, there is bat$hit scary stuff there; if y'all want, I can provide a link in comments. Suffice it to say that she & $aint $arah from Wasilla were separated at birth! Her solution to the HCR crisis sounds way like Medicaid. Ken Vogel gets bat$hit & super PAC duty. David called the article the other day about the White House assuming Mittens will be the GOBP nominee "great"; huh, Markos hated it - go figure! ;D I still don't think Mittens will be the nominee. Mr. Vogel mentioned the "establishment" GOBPers that are petrified Bat$hit Bachmann & mentioned the other "that woman," too! ;D THAT'S why I disagree with Markos & think there's no way in Hades she'll be the nominee, either.
"Time Marches On!" - Some designer has made dresses out of the same balloons that people use to make those animals. Some dude on teh YouTubz is quite the hit banging a guitar against his head. O...K... A tiny boat in a yacht race tried to challenge a super tanker. Guess which one won? ;D
#3 "And the Winner Is..." AKA "Wisconsin Recall Election" - I expressed my feelings about WI above; we'll see if my feelings have changed at the end of the segment. There are 2 more recall elections next week that Dems will win. The Dems are still claiming "victory" even though they are still the minority party in the state Senate. The WI Dem chair had this to say:
Last night's recall elections were tremendously historic. I think they show how vulnerable the Republicans are going into 201, and how vulnerable Governor Walker is going into a potential recall himself. If last night's election were a statewide election, Scott Walker would have been recalled from office.
Agree? Disagree? Well, last night wasn't a "statewide election," so isn't that kind of a moot point? John Nichols is back! The energy level among Dems for a Governor Scotty recall is about the middle of the road; the process to recall
him is rather complicated. However, there is now apparently a majority pro - collective bargaining number in the state Senate -
interesting!
So much outside money came into yesterday's election some currently - serving Senators almost thought the candidates were by - standers in their own election. Now state Senator - elect Jessica King is a guest tonight! Chris Larson is a current state Senator; he would, of course, support a recall effort for Governor Scotty. Miss King is going to tell Governor Scotty that he better get more citizen input into future policy decisions; don't hold your breath on that, honey. State Senator Larson thinks Governor Scotty bullied some of the state Senate GOBP into supporting his agenda. Huh...do WI F.O.O. agree with that opinion?
#2 "Conservative" media is having a hoot of a time 'splaining the riots across the pond by saying they're Obama voters, the unrest will come here, "the left" wants riots in the street, etc.
#1 "Indefensible" AKA "In Sickness and in Health" - This administration is no longer defending DOMA in court but is using this law to deport 1 man in a legally - married gay couple in CA. The American in the relationship has AIDS; his partner, an Australian, might be forced to leave late this month & is his primary care giver. Oh boy, this story might get to be a bit much for me. Rep. Nancy Pelosi is trying to help. Bradford Wells has AIDS; Anthony John Makk might take Bradford with him should he be forced to leave. The 2 of them have been together for 19 years. Huh, I'd wager there are a whole mess of "family values" GOBPer marriages that didn't & haven't lasted 19 years!
action=view¤t=vomit-emticon.gif" target="_blank">
Anthony "the foreigner" has more faith in Rep. Pelosi than his partner does. ;D
