This morning I posted a diary which immediately shot straight to the top of the Rec list, of political cartoonist Clay Bennet's brilliant "Elephant coat hanger" panel.
IMPORTANT UPDATE: I just received an email from Clay Bennett himself, explaining how the cartoon got into the wild without being posted to the Chattanooga Times website and requesting that I do what I can to direct traffic there now that it is posted. He was extremely gracious and thankful for the exposure, but does understandably want his employer to receive as much of the traffic for this as possible.
As Mr. Bennett put it, "I realize that the barn door may already be wide open for this horse, but I figure it couldn't hurt to ask for a link to the institution that is as responsible for the creation of this cartoon as I am."
So, I would urge anyone still reading this diary to please also click this direct link to the Chattanooga Times Free Press site (and, more importantly, to use this link whenever spreading the word about this particular comic). It's the right thing to do.
I received praise for the diary, but all I did was repost his work, so I figured I should come up with my own variant. It's not nearly as good, but judge for yourselves:
On a related note, due to popular "demand" (ie, various people asking me to keep reposting them to spread the word as much as possible), I'm still pushing this: The "complete" set of Volumes I - III of the Republican Rape Advisory Chart is now available in one handy, vomit-inducing graphic (click to view full-size...it's too large to fit properly here).
I should note that after being kind of squishy about the "credit" thing for the past few days, a female friend of mine said:
"On paper it may sound strange, but as a women who is completely blown away at the disrespectful and demeaning talk coming out of the mouths of Republicans, it's fantastic to have all the single sound bites put together into one in-your-face chart. It's a good thing you did. Own it."
...so, fine, I'm owning it. The versions linked to include a minor edit--I've added my alias to the bottom of each. Won't make much difference at this point since the first one has been reposted/retweeted a zillion times without it, but whatever:
