In approximately 34 hours, the NN14 Holiday Bazaar--the NN Auction--will end. Will you take the chance of participating between now and then? I'm sure you're familiar with the lotto promotion slogan: you have to play to win. True here too, except you have much better odds of getting what you want.
BCO gal put up a nice diary yesterday with all ten categories of auction items depicted; I recommend checking out that list.
At the time of writing, there are 72 items on the block. 71% of them have already received a bid, and total leading bids have reached $1,105. Pretty good so far, but we can do better.
Take a look at some of the items already donated and already pursued:
Five ceramic ornaments--at least one kitty!
NYR Organic Beauty Sleep Organic Spa Collection
Homemade baked goods are always a big hit. Consider just these two options out of twelve (so far--your best cookies could be among them soon):
loaf of banana chocolate chip bread
Donated by mcmom again this year, back by popular demand:
One pound of "Grandma Simer's Perfect Fudge"--available with or without nuts
And here are some items that are languishing, awaiting their opening bid. Time it right, and these items could be yours at a great price!
cellphone/eyeglasses case
Olde English Tigers' D Tile--MLB Licensed, made by Pewabic Pottery
I hereby extend a special challenge to all Kossacks who have connections (current or past) to Detroit. You know who you are--and I hope you will join me in contributing to the success of this portion of the NN organizing. Your contribution need not be expensive or unique. Funny helps, but that's not necessary either. What matters is the donation.
But whether you're a Detroiter or someone who's never been to the city, please take a look at what's already on the site and see what you can add to round out the offerings. If you come up with something to donate, the process to do so is easy. Send an email with your (brief) item description, a photo, the item's value and minimum bid, if any, and the way you would like your donation to be credited to karen AT netrootsnation DOT org. Karen is great to work with, and she has promised to upload new items to the auction site ASAP.
Come to think of it, when you visit the auction home page you will see some options on the right-hand side of the page, just beneath the auction stats, for making a donation without bidding. Contributions made that way help, too.
I realize that many people prefer to donate and to bid anonymously. No matter which way you choose to take part, the important thing is that you do.
Thanks to everyone who has donated and bid so far; thanks in advance to everyone who will be doing so between now and tomorrow evening, Monday December 9th, at 10:00 PM ET. Good luck!!
