Ansel Herz over at the Stranger weekly in Seattle has an update on Saturdays 15Now rally/signature drive kickoff. It looks like the campaign agreed to a 3-year phase in to $15 an hour for small businesses and no-profits. This seems like a reasonable proposal to me overall.
In the end, the conference approved 15 Now's existing charter amendment, for which they need to gather a minimum of 30,000 signatures between May 24 and roughly mid-July. I imagine they won't have any trouble exceeding that figure. When an organizer asked who's up for gathering 100 signatures per week, a few dozen hands shot up.
And so it begins again, annual initiative signature gathering in Seattle. We do alot of this kind of stuff up here in Seattle because we are civic minded.
