Fans of deranged, clueless and laughably dishonest political 'analysis' keep a special place in their hearts for The Washington Post's Jennifer Rubin. While it's widely understood that Rubin is Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's Special Envoy to The GOP and her mendacious shilling for the right-wing Likud Party is grotesque enough, it's Rubin's coverage of US politics that has made her a comedy master-class.
Yesterday's column in The WP is a case in point. In it, Rubin (who confidently predicted a Romney 'landslide' right up until the end) tries desperately to make a case for Texas Gov. Rick 'Goodhair' Perry as the savior of the GOP in 2016. According to Rubin:
...if the base is looking for a very conservative candidate who can turn on a crowd and vouch for the benefits of conservative governance, Perry increasingly seems like the rational choice. Despite his disastrous run in 2012, he is getting strong reviews these days. We saw that in spades in the coverage of the Texas GOP convention this week.
What Jenghazi is talking about is
Perry's boiler-plate speech consisting of bromides, platitudes, nebulous aims and flat-out lies about the erosion of Liberty and the 'menace' of Big Gubmint (all together now: "Woooooo...").
In other words, Jen thinks that when Gov. Goodhair gives a 'good' speech: he's a heavywieght. When President Obama gives a good speech: he's a lightweight. Because...yeah...whatever.
Rubin concludes her addled piece with:
It is this theme — pruning and reforming — and Perry’s sunny outlook that combine two critical aspects to what we suspect will be the only GOP message that can overcome the Hillary Clinton onslaught. Anti-government rhetoric gets you only so far. A substantive agenda is needed. Decrying the media, the White House and the state of public morality is insufficient and at some point tiresome. But some righteous anger, a call to repair the government and a call to restore American greatness have the potential to stir the party.
The GOP 'repairing' government and 'restoring' American 'greatness' (presumably to that Golden Age before Affordable Health Care)? Like I said: pure comedy gold.
But I agree with Rubin: Rick Goodhair is the perfect candidate for 2016. Paired with Louis Gohmert, they're the Dream Team.
I urge all Kossacks to get behind the Perry/Gohmert ticket. They must run. You know it makes sense.
