The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee is launching a new ad charging Rep. Bill Cassidy, Republicans’ pick to take on Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-La.), “put millionaires before veterans.”
The ad is part of a $2.4 million buy that the committee plans to use to highlight how the candidate’s “priorities are out of step with Louisiana.”
“Those who serve have their priorities straight. But Congressman Bill Cassidy doesn’t,” a narrator declares in the ad.
It charges he voted “against making it easier for veterans to afford a home” and opposed expanding access for veterans to the Louisiana State University Veterans Affairs hospital, while he voted for “tax breaks for the wealthy.” The ad points to his votes for the GOP budget and, as state senator, in opposition to the business plan for the VA hospital, as evidence. - The Hill, 8/21/14
Very good ad I must say. Landrieu has also been calling out Cassidy for being a chicken:

The campaign released a statement criticizing Cassidy for not committing to a debate. Landrieu has committed to four: two in New Orleans, one in Baton Rouge and one in Monroe.
Landrieu's campaign communications director, Fabien Levy, said in a statement Cassidy had failed to keep his word that he would release his debate schedule after he qualified.
Landrieu mentioned Cassidy's lack of debate commitments during her post qualifying remarks. She said he won't debate because he doesn't have the record of leadership that she does.
"Congressman Cassidy has done everything he can to not talk about the real issues in this campaign because his record is very sparse and very modest," Landrieu said. "We've got [four] debates scheduled and he hasn't agreed to any of them yet. When he does, he's not going to be able to avoid talking about leadership and effectiveness and leadership for the state." - The Times-Picayune, 8/21/14
FYI, this guy really wants to see Cassidy get elected:

John Bolton, the Bush administration's U.N ambassador and a supporter of an interventionist U.S. foreign policy, endorsed Rep. Bill Cassidy's Senate campaign. He said his political action committee would give the Baton Rouge lawmaker a $5,000 campaign donation.
"Bill has shown himself in Congress to be a leader and is respected by his peers," Bolton said in a statement Thursday. "He understands the importance of national security and the damage President (Barack) Obama and his supportive Democrat senators have caused America. The U.S. and Louisiana need new leadership in the Senate, and Bill is the right person to lead that charge."
Cassidy welcomed the backing of Bolton, a potential 2016 GOP presidential candidate who has endorsed and contributed to 18 GOP congressional candidates while continuing as a regular on-air analyst on the Fox News Network.
Bolton, described by some as a neo-conservative, has criticized the Obama administration for seeking to end Iran's nuclear program via negotiation, and has strongly defended the Iraq war begun by the George W. Bush administration. In response to the failed intelligence that justified the war -- mainly that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction -- Bolton said without international action the Iraqi dictator would "have immediately returned to ambitious WMC programs." - The Times-Picayune, 8/21/14
We have a tough race ahead of us but Landrieu can still beat Cassidy. Click here to donate and get involved with Landrieu's campaign:
