For those wondering if the campus student protests nationwide will amount to anything, consider the following report from Jake Johnson of Common Dreams. Portland State University paused donations, grants, and gifts from the Boeing Corporation because the students insisted that their school should not benefit financially from a company that manufactured the “GBU-39 Small Diameter Bomb used by the IDF to attack a family building in Rafah, killing 18 civilians and wounding eight others.” Moreover, “in October, Israel used Boeing-made Joint Direct Attack Munitions to conduct a pair of airstrikes in Deir al-Balah, killing more than 43 people from two families—including 19 children.”
As John Lewis, the revered Civil Rights icon who championed non-violent civil disobedience, said, “ Never, ever be afraid to make some noise and get in good trouble, necessary trouble.”
Hopefully, the wisdom demonstrated by the administrators at PSU will be contagious and other schools in the country will follow suit. Read the story here: www.commondreams.org/...
