I'm just curious--does anyone think Iowans will really care about Dean's caucus comments? I just find it bizarre that the media is making such a big deal of it. I've generally been leery of the notion that there is a conspiracy in the media against certain candidates. I think a lot of the bias simply comes from laziness and a desire to create controversy and a story to sell.
But this obsession over these caucus comments is absolutely bizarre. It almost makes me think there is some sort of stop-Dean conspiracy. So he said it's inconvenient to caucus and he wouldn't want to stand around for a few hours listening to everyone's opinion just so he can cast a vote for his candidate. Hell, what's controversial about that?
I live in Washington and on Feb. 7 I'll be attending the caucus to vote for Dean. I can damn well tell you that I'm not offended by Dean's comment, and not just because he's my man. Wouldn't be offended by anyone saying it. I would love for Washington's delegates to be chosen by the primary and not by caucus. It would save me time and a hassle. I wouldn't have had to request a day off from work just to put in my vote.
So are there really a bunch of Iowans that will be offended by these comments? Or are they mostly going to say, "Yeah, he makes a good point"? Even if you loved the caucus system, wouldn't it be easy to understand where Dean is coming from?
What do you guys think? I'd particularly like to hear from any Iowans.
