I was just listening to Joodee W. on CNN expressing her usual outrage at another John Kerry example of trying to have an issue both ways. She commented that Kerry told an Iowa newspaper that he believes life begins at conception. She did note that this was a commonly held belief held by Catholics and that he was not pushing his personal views on the legislative process therefore continued to support a woman's right to choose. She seemed to think this stance would prove troublesome for his liberal base.
My question is this: Is there anyone out there in the liberal base that enjoys the idea of abortion? Who purposely gets pregnant just for the sheer joy of aborting? Doesn't everyone wish abortion would be less common if birth control methods were an open topic of public discussion? Kerry has always expressed the belief that abortion is between a woman, her family and her doctor and has voted accordingly. What exactly are we supposed to be so riled up about?
Another heads up.....be prepared for Kerry's comment about life beginning at conception to be used against him in the stem cell debate. If necessary, point out to any lazy "journalist" that stem cells have been fertilized in a petri dish but have not been conceived. Conception is when the embryo implants in the uterus. Fertilization and conception are not the same thing.
