If anyone didn't hear it on Air America this morning, Unfiltered has been encouraging their audience to email Oprah in an attempt to get her to have Bev Harris on her show. I sent an email when Bev was on during the RNC, and I'll probably send another one.
Naturally, if you could email anyone from any media outlet you think might get the word out about this. But Oprah is a particularly good target. Obviously, she has a large audience. But there are other advantages as well.
Oprah likes to do socially conscious stories, so it should appeal to her.
She likes stories about strong women, so Bev Harris is a great guest for her.
The visibility of Oprah makes it possible that other outlets will pick up the story, if only because they feel stupid about being outclassed by Oprah.
And finally, Oprah has an activist audience. Television in general is passive -- people see the story, tsk tsk, maybe tell a friend, and that's it. But Oprah gets her audience to send money to charity. She gets them to read books. This is what I think makes the Orpah Show stand out from other television shows -- Oprah can get her audience to write letters to their legislative representatives and their local media. She can get them to raise a stink.
So, email Oprah. Go here to make a show suggestion:
