Going over the
Commission on Presidential Debates website (following the suggestion of
DeanDemocrat), I stumbled upon an idea for a last-week DNC TV spot, targeting independents and swing voters.
It's rather obvious actually, so apologies if it's already been done. Here goes below the fold....

Fade in to white text: Tuesday, November 2nd, is Election Day.
Next Tuesday all of you will go to the polls, will stand there in the polling place and make a decision. I think when you make that decision, it might be well if you would ask yourself, are you better off than you were four years ago?
Are you better off?
Is it easier for you to go and buy things in the stores than it was four years ago?
Price of milk: UP 18%
Gas prices: UP 19%
College Tuition: UP 28%
Family Health Care Premiums: UP 45%
Household income: DOWN 3.4%
Is there more or less unemployment in the country than there was four years ago?
Long-term unemployment, 2000: 649,000
Long-term unemployment, 2004: 1.7 MILLION
Private sector job losses: 1.6 MILLION
Is America as respected throughout the world as it was?
"GLOBAL GLOOM AND GROWING ANTI-AMERICANISM" (headline on Pew Research Center report on world opinion, 12/4/02)
Do you feel that our security is as safe, that we're as strong as we were four years ago?
175 significant terrorist attacks in 2003, most in 20 years. (US State Department)
Only 5% of cargo containers entering US inspected.
North Korea, Iran become Nuclear Powers
Russian Nuclear Materials Remain Loose
And if you answer all of those questions yes, why then, I think your choice is very obvious as to whom you will vote for.
(Picture of Bush, perhaps the one where he's posing in the Chinese outfit?)
If you don't agree, if you don't think that this course that we've been on for the last four years is what you would like to see us follow for the next four, then I could suggest another choice that you have.
Vote for John Kerry on November 2nd.
This country doesn't have to be in the shape that it is in.
