....but it's really not.
I've talked to several people recently who plan to vote for Kerry but wish they could get more excited about him.
I've been watching the focus group on C-Span and, though most of these people are uninformed beyond belief, that seems to be their feeling as well. Bush isn't all that great but Kerry doesn't excite them.
When I was talking to my uncle the other night I told him soaring rhetoric and flowery speeches were all well and good but look what Kerry is taking on if he wins. It'll be the damage-control presidency. He has to handle a chaotic siutation in Iraq, an American reputation abroad running on empty, a half-trillion dollar deficit.
If all were right with the world, we could have run Johnny Sunshine as our candidate and Bush would lie weeping by the wayside. Instead we're forced to run a serious man during a serious time and the public still acts like we're voting for King of the Senior Prom. Somehow Kerry needs to make this point in the debates and over the next few weeks. Is there a chance the voters will be taking their responsibilities as seriously as our candidate does?
