ATLANTA (AP) -- About 300,000 new voters have registered so far this year in Georgia. That's a 50 percent increase over the last presidential election.

Remember the dominant media theme in 2000 about there not being any real difference between Gore and Bush? During the 9 election cycles in which I've voted, very often I selected the lesser of two evils. Many people, over the decades, became entirely apathetic to politics and let their registrations lapse. I think what this upsurge means is likely two-fold: First, ACT and others are aggressively pursuing new voters, but, mainly, people are mad as hell at Bush and they're not going to take it anymore! Kerry is gonna win in a landslide - BELIEVE!
