I was watching the Newshour today and Mark Halperin was speaking for the Kerry side on the question of who has the best ideas for terrorism. He made a point that really hadn't occurred to me before: He said Bush, in his current advertising, directs all his criticism at what Kerry did before 9/11 (voting against the first Gulf War, cutting weapons programs, etc.) . Bush himself, however, refuses to be held to account for his actions (or should I say inaction) before September 11. Bush implies that Kerry should not be trusted to run the war on terrorism effectively because of his pre-9/11 actions.
I think all is fair in campaigns and war. Is it time to start rolling out the extensive accounting of Bush's pre-9/11 activities....let's say starting with what he was doing 20 years ago? Hmmmm....wasn't his family doing business with the money laundering/terrorist funding/Saudi operated banking firm BCCI at about the same time that John Kerry was shutting said organization down?
