Folks,
A couple of bits of info as I speak with my staff throughout the state of Florida working on the campaign.
All info as of 11:00am this morning.
Palm Beach County-500 volunteers at Kerry headquarters yesterday. A convoy of Kerry mini-vans shuttling retirees and other voters to the polls. Some people turning away as wait can be three hours.
Sarasota/Manatee Counties.-Early voting turnout was about twenty percent. Reports this morning are that people are turning out in large numbers. This is Katherine Harris country so keep your fingers crossed!!
Orange County(Orlando)- Extremely long lines high high turnout. Note;Gore won the county in 2000. That was the first time a dem has won it since FDR.
Lake County(North of Orlando) Bush won Lake with 56 percent in 2000. I spot checked four precincts this morning and talked to Kerry sign holders and they say turnout is light. Good.
Leon County-I haven't got a clear report this morning but I can tell you that early voting was extremely high-the Supervisor said it will be a record. This is a highly democratic area.
Benchmarks and indicators.
A few places and things to watch.
Broward County, the largest democratic voting block in the state. Thirty percent have already voted early. If turnout goes to seventy percent-there is really no way the repugs can win.
Martin County-Emerging dem area-dems lost narrowly in 2000 look for win this time.
The last six candidates who've won in Hillsborough County,(Tampa) have won the state. Bush won it by 14K in 2000. Kerry needs it today.
Emerging non-Cuban Hispanic votes in Dade and Osceola. Gore won Miami by 40K in 2000. That's not enough he needs 75-100K
In Osceola, huge Puerto Rican Community has been organized by SEIU,ACT and others. Gore won in 2000 narrowly, expect a better return this year.
Hold onto your hats brothers and sisters-Remember EXECUTE and use revoultionary disciple in our GOTV.
Take a look at the 2000 results by County.
