There's lots of talk in the recommended diaries about putting our pocketbooks to work in our own best interest. I canceled my subscription to the Chronicle today with the following letter to the editor:
More below the fold....
(OK, for whatever reason, this diary is being recognized as a one line diary so here's some filler for you....blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. OK, NOW read below the fold:)
Editor:
So the Chronicle tells me today that despite the fact nearly half the population, the entire Northeast, most of the industrial Midwest and all of the West Coast voted for the Democrat, it's the San Francisco Bay Area that is out of touch and bucking the trend. More Democrats cast votes in this election than any other election in history but the Chronicle tells me that progressive's may never have a national voice again.
It was irritating that your headlines often conflicted with reality and/or the facts prior to this election, it's getting downright intolerable now. Between the sneering contempt Debra Saunders displays on the opinion page when referring to her neighbors as the "Special Ones" and the more general ridicule your writers exhibit toward the values of your hometown readers, I've decided to cancel my subscription. You disrespect your readers on a regular basis, I don't see any reason why I should continue paying you for the privilege.
I subscribed to the San Jose Mercury News today....a Knight-Ridder paper with enough integrity to question the gross incompetence of the Bush Administration. If we're going to have an impact, we have to begin today.
