Indeed, Bob Jones University may rightly be referred to as a "ship of fools", with Bob Jones III as its captain. (He's welcome to his own version of the Hesparus, as far as I'm concerned.)
There's dissension in the conservative/fundamentalist ranks to Jones' obsequious letter to our "Dear Leader": A gentleman named Laurence Vance has posted a reply to Jones on the arch-libertarian site lewrockwell.com:

One of the paragraphs in the article rings particularly true:
"Jones wants Bush to shed himself of the 'weaklings' around him who do not share his 'biblical values.' Which biblical value is Bob Jones referring to? The BJU philosophy statement says: 'Biblical values are integrated in every classroom and every other part of the educational process.' Is lying a biblical value? Is deception a biblical value? Is the death of innocents a biblical value? Is sending soldiers unnecessarily to their deaths a biblical value? Is using profanity a biblical value? Is violating your country's constitution that you have sworn to uphold a biblical value?"
Good points, all well taken. Incidentally, in reference to BJU's classrooms, "integration of Biblical values", in part, takes the form of a pithy quote from the founder (or, if I were still beholden to the institution, the Founder -- don't forget to capitalize!), Bob Jones Sr. Each October, one chapel service is set aside to remember the "father of the institution." I recall one particularly pathetic service in which the theme was "He started something!" Being the good Christians we were, we couldn't laugh out loud at such an absurd display, but I can tell you that for many months thereafter, we had a lot of fun at the expense of those who facilitated the cult of Bob in this manner.
