Jon Stewart is my personal savior. No not my one and only Personal Savior. That would be Jesus. Nor my Personal Lord. That'd be Jesus too. But the humor and perspective of Jon Stewart and Al Franken had a very large role in pulling me through the post-Fraud `04 depression I went through. Funny how my WASPY bacon gets saved by Jewish guys. Again. The Passion of The (rhymes with Christ and synonymous with Jewish comics, and is humorous without being offensive-- need some help here y'all).
A bit of my personal testimony follows...
Not being generally much of a TV-watchin' kind of guy, and especially not cable TV, there are admittedly some aspects of pop American culture that totally pass me by. Comedy Central's
The Daily Show with Jon Stewart being one of them;I'd never even heard of the show at all until sometime in the last couple months lead up to the election. And I had never actually watched it until a few days before the election. It was in the heat of the election that I flipped on CrossFire and by pure accident just happed to be watching the
now-infamous day that JS came on CrossFire with Paul Begala and Tucker Carlson and just blasted them to smithereens. I liked what I saw, felt he'd said what I'd've wanted to if I'd been there, but better, smarter and cleverer.
Since that point I've been communing in the shrine of Daily Show most every night. Today I'm joining the JS Intelligence Agency fan site. Go Jon Go!
Here's some holy scripture: America (The Book): A Citizen's Guide to Inaction.
