I did search to see if this had been mentioned and came up with zip, so apologies if I missed an earlier diary that covered this bit o' news.
Anyway, putting his vow to build the party from the bottom up in the long-ignored red states (like my own beloved Kansas) into action, our new DNC chair is coming to town this week.
Here's a link to the Kansas State Democratic Party site's announcement yesterday:

"New DNC Chairman Dean to Visit Kansas for Lawrence Rally on Friday, Feb. 25!
Submitted by fgorman on February 16, 2005 - 2:49pm. Headlines | National News
Newly elected DNC Chairman Howard Dean is making good on his pledge to build state parties by visiting Kansas in support of the Kansas Democratic Party. By coming to Kansas, Dean is showing his commitment to build the party everywhere at the grassroots level.
"Governor Dean is responsible for bringing many new active Democrats to our party," KDP Chairman Lawrence Gates said. "He knows how to build the Party from the grassroots up and we are thrilled he chose Kansas as the place to start."
What: Dean to Attend Rally in Support of Kansas Democratic Party
When: Friday, February 25 from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm (Doors open at 4:30 pm)
Where: Liberty Hall, 644 Massachusetts St., Lawrence, KS
Admission: $5
Tickets are available from the Liberty Hall box office beginning 12 noon on Sunday February 20th.
As Chairman of the Democratic National Committee, Howard Dean has pledged to never concede a single state, a single district, or a single voter to the Republicans. He also committed to invest in state parties, take a bottom-up approach to the development of the Party's message, use cutting-edge Internet and other technologies to fundraise, organize, and communicate with our supporters while strengthening our political institutions and leadership institutes to promote our leaders and our ideas..."
Hey, it's only $5!!! What a bargain! And, any of you Kansas Deanocrats who have $100 to spend, the Doctor will also be attending a KSDP fundraiser at the home of some local supporters preceding the rally. Check the Lawrence DFA Meetup page for details.
So Kossacks, please tell any Dems you know in the Lawrence-Topeka-KC area (or beyond) who may have missed this announcement. The KSDP is a little old-fashioned in its PR methods and doesn't fully utilize new technology yet. Some might miss out on an opportunity to experience something that, up until now, has been really rare in these parts (i.e., any attention from the DNC.)
