I was going to reply to the diary about Howard's "outlandish" remarks about Repubs being white Christians (I can't figure out how to link to it yet) and it just got too long, so I decided to post my first diary.
That guy rules. When I saw the headline of this diary, I was p!ssed b/c I thought it was going to be another wimpy criticism and hysteria about the aftermath. It wasn't. However, I'm sure I'll see plenty of that if I choose to flip on the tube tonight.
He's saying these things intentionally. The Dems have some balls, finally. He's not elected or part of government; he can say what we really feel.
Independents didn't vote for Bush b/c they liked his policies, they did b/c he had balls. Now if the Dems can show that they have balls as well as intelligence and common sense, we're in.
His timing is perfect. The NeoCon agenda is going on the schnide big time, and he is giving the Democratic Party a solid presence, a purpose, and a sense that we're p!ssed about the effect that the Bush re-election is already having on people's lives. Only with the confidence to speak with the same brashness that the opponent does will we ever actually BE a legitimate option to them.
We must take advantage of the current momentum and not be a bunch of Liebermanlike wussies running around literally kissing ass and framing their sell outs as "deals" and "compromise".
Go Howard! Attract as much attention as you can! You'll never be as offensive as Rush, O'Reilly or Scarborough.
