Right now its really hard to believe that the current Administration didn't purposely conspire to kill off people who would statistically vote against them. Its hard to think what Kanye West said on TV is wrong after it took Bush days to come back home from vacation and days to attempt to get this situation under control.
As a Canadian I cant feel what all of you feel, but I do feel sorry and sad for the great tradgedy that has befallen your great nation. Today at the annual Labour Day Classic football game in Calgary, Alberta, we witnessed a moment of silence for the victims of Katrina and sung your National Anthem.
I only wish your government allowed us, and other nations to come and help much earlier (I also wish my government would help with more feet on the ground and money) so I would not have to read this quote below.
"The guy who runs this building ... His mother was trapped in St. Bernard nursing home. And every day she called him and said, 'Are you coming. Son? Is somebody coming?' And he said, 'Yeah. Mama. Somebody's coming to get you. 'Somebody's coming to get you on Tuesday. 'Somebody's coming to get you on Wednesday. 'Somebody's coming to get you on Thursday. 'Somebody's coming to get you on Friday.'
"And she drowned Friday night. [Crying] And she drowned Friday night. Nobody's coming to get us. Nobody's coming to get us. The Secretary has promised. Everybody's promised. They've had press conferences. I'm sick of the press conferences. For God's sakes, just shut up and send us somebody."
# Aaron Broussard, president of Jefferson Parish, explaining on NBC's "Meet the Press" how a colleague's elderly mother was abandoned and eventually drowned after repeated promises she would be rescued.

We over here in the liberal blogosphere knew things were going to be bad, we all wished that Team Chimpy would come home and help, but it took days, and even while people were drowning Condi Rice and Dick Cheney were either buying shoes or planning trips to Canada to look at oil.
You really see how desperate the situation is when two very conservative Fox News 'journalists' Geraldo Rivera and Sheppard Smith dont try spinning the situation in a favourable light for the administration.

Watch it, after the quote I posted above, this has been the most moving thing I have experienced over the past two weeks.
If I could, I would fly down to New Orleans and help, I really would. I'm not even sure why I'm writing this diary, I'm just full of sadness over this entire disaster and I wish I could help.
