Accompanied by only a few journalists sworn to secrecy, the Shrub apparently made a surprise visit to Iraq to eat turkey dinner with the soldiers.
The AP and Reuters reports of the visit include no pictures or interviews with the troops.
Even Fox News (which I would assume would have had a press member invited to attend) shows only graphics and an old, official, pre-White House wrinkles picture of the President.
All that leads me to believe something is fishy with this visit, not least because in all other things (including his recent visit to England), Bush has proven himself to be a terribly fearful creature. Which seems to rule out flying into the Baghdad International Airport.
Perhaps he needed to fly to Iraq to prevent Hillary--who is in Afghanistan from looking more patriotic than him.
Perhaps he is just that desperate to appear like he is honoring the troops sufficiently.
Or perhaps, just perhaps, I should stop being so damn cynical and believe he did it because he wanted to honor the troops.
Happy Turkey Day, soldiers!
