Next week will be the worst week of the Bush II Administration. Even Tucker Carlson agrees (I wish I was blog-literate enough to figure out how to post links in a diary...I will learn as soon as the booze wears off). The White House is in total disarray. If Rove still had any power, Luttig or Cox would've been named
today, after Fitzgerald's press conference, to wag the proverbial dog. The 72-hour news cycle that we are in is going to be dominated by Libby. The Sunday talk shows are going to be dominated by Libby. The potent-Rove never would've allowed that kind of vacuum. Bush is going to name is SCOTUS replacement next week, and then Fitzgerald will indict Rove for
perjury, obstruction of justice, and something big. "Something big" may be a bit nebulous, but it is coming. It
has to. Fitz was too good today. Rove's lawyers are working overtime to minimalize any damage.
Rove was offered a chance to plea to a lesser charge. That means
Fitz is going to indict him on a greater charge OR
he is trying to get him to flip on Cheney. Did you see Bush's 30-second statement today? That was written for him by White House Counsel, not by one of his speechwriters. He is scared. He is in denial, but he is still scared. This is not the beginning of the end, but rather only the end of the beginning (apologies to Churchill). Libby is NOT THAT STUPID. He would not have done what he did unless there is something bigger and juicier out there. The other shoe is about to drop, and it will be HUGE.
On a side note, it is finally accepted as FACT that Bush lied and people died. The general public believes that now. It is OVER. OVER, I tell you. This is not about the criminalization of politics; this is about the criminalization of the GOP. Bush's teflon is GONE. I feel much better now.
