Like many of you I have been closely following what's been happening in South Dakota, and we got a big piece of good news today. Our own
rsantos17 is telling us that 38,000 signatures were gathered and that this is more than twice as much needed to put the ban on the ballot this November.
This is big! This means that the people of South Dakota will get to show the wingnuts that their craziness won't be tolerated in South Dakota. When this law gets trounced in November it's going to scare the prolife extremists away from trying it in other states.
I noticed that rsantos17's diary is being pushed down. So please go here and read the post. Let's rec this thing back up to the top so that everyone can know what just happened!
[update] 37,846 seems to be the final count of signatures.
Focus South Dakota needed on 16,728 signatures to block the law and place it on the November ballot. Seems they got 21,118 extra sigs. This has got to be more than enough to withstand any court battles.
