Bonddad asks for single payer health care: http://www.dailykos.com/story/2006/7/4/84037/97613
To see if we have single payer health care, look at who can get treatment with no money
old [X] $$
poor [X] $$
children [X] $$
emergency room [X] $$
indigent [X] $$
bankrupt [X] $$
SSI Disability [X] $$
uninsurable [X] $$ (preexisting conditions)
CONGRESS [X] $$
military
(active) [X] $$
(homeless) [X] $$
young workers [ ]
healthy adults [ ]
Our government pays for the sickest. We just let insurance companies
syphon off the population at their healthiest and cheapest as a group, so
they can make money off them, until they get too sick to work, lose their insurance, and
we get them back.
We have single payer, it's just implemented to allow parasitic companies to extract fortunes but deny coverage when it gets expensive, the number one cause of bankruptcy in America.
Update: I'm not selling this as a great plan. It's a framing argument: we're already providing universal health care to all, we just let some company suck money out of the system for the most profitable, cheapest years and leave us holding the expense for the rest, which is usually more expensive by then.
