Jason Moon Served In Iraq And This Actually Happened

Jason Moon, who served in Iraq, describes how he was ordered, as a convoy driver, to run over children.  And when he said he couldn't do it, was punished by being put in the most vulnerable seat in the convoy.

The architects of the Iraq War -- Rumsfeld first, followed closely by people above and below, like Cheney and Tommy Franks -- need to be tried for war crimes.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

  •  So, you lose an entire convoy full of people (4+ / 0-)

because the terrorists force a truck to stop?

Let's look at that.  The terrorists don't care if people die.  We do.  They run out an old lady or kid in front of the lead truck in a convoy, the convoy stops, everyone gets machine gunned.

    Of COURSE it sucks.  :-(

Of course I'll get flamed for saying that the convoy shouldn't stop.

It's an old tactic.  You find a convoy, blow up the first truck or tank.  Then you blow up the last truck.  No one can move, everyone dies.

The terrorists don't care if people die.  We do.

You show no evidence of that. None whatsoever. Bottom line, if you're advocating mowing people down, then you don't care if people die, no matter what you say.

American, leave Iraq. It's not your country, you lied about it threatening your country with powerful weapons, and now you're lying about it benefiting from your occupation. Get out.

"You show no evidence of that. None whatsoever."

Really...  Kneejerk, or just propaganda speak?  Perhaps just immature?

It's easy to find me on the web, my name is posted, always, and you can also find me under fastfashn or angrytoyrobot.

I think that Hezbollah and Israel BOTH need to get out of Lebanon, and I also think that since we have destroyed Iraq we owe those people something, and that does not mean "just' leaving.

Oh, by the way, Del C, where are you located at?  US or overseas?  I am increasingly curious as to exactly who posts anti-Israel and anti-American diaries on what is supposed to be a board set up to get Democrats elected in the US.

        •  Hezbollah out of Lebanon? (0+ / 0-)

It's just not that simple.  Hezbolla is lebanon, or at least a non-trivial portion of it.  The southern Shias love Hezbollah for the social services it provides -- clean streets, safe neighborhoods, hospitals, schools (though we might not like what they teach).  A lot of them probably also aren't entirely opposed to the shooting-at-Israelis bit.

We need to find a way to strengthen the central Lebanese gov't's ability to provide services without help from Islamic extremists.  But this probably means allowing Hezbollah to stay, and integrate it into civil society in a way that encourages it to disarm.  For at least the next twenty years, trying to actually boot Hezbollah out will simply create a civil war.

        •  BTW, what in DelC's post was anti-Israel? (0+ / 0-)

Accusing people of anti-Semitism and anti-Americanism for saying that the war is being conducted badly, shouldn't have been started, and is producing nothing good... you're reading from Rove's playbook.

    •  Regrettably true (0+ / 0-)

      You speak the brutal truth.

OTOH I agree with the second part of the diary: the "leaders" who put soldiers into this painful position for no good reason should bear the consequences.

        •  oops (0+ / 0-)

"the "leaders" who put soldiers into this painful position for no good reason should bear the consequences."

Absolutely.  But when a soldier is in the... field.  Rephrase.  When a soldier is enlisted, he is supposed to obey orders. Not necessarily be an automaton, but obey.  I would have put the whiner at the tail end of the convoy too, because his attitude would endanger everyone.

Ordered to murder, the soldier SHOULD NOT, to torture, he SHOULD NOT, but he also has to think about his own men.

We have to think about everyone, Iraqi, US, Israel, Lebanon.  The terorists only think about themselves and "Allah", and basing a strategy on thinking/knowing God is going to pull your ass out of the fire is a sure way to die.
