By now, everyone is aware that James Webb has
a new TV ad up that contains Ronald Reagan's praise. Many of us also know that Nancy Reagan's office has asked for it to be
taken down, much to the delight of the GOP.
What many people may not know is that she has clearly never seen the ad.
Below the fold, let's look at her press release, as it contains some telling clues. Someone is force-feeding her lines, and one can only hope it's been the Allen campaign.
In
a press release titled, "Statement by the Office of Nancy Reagan Regarding the Use of President Reagan's Image in Political Campaigns," Nancy Reagan says the following:
"It has come to our attention that your Senatorial campaign in Virginia is using video footage of President Ronald Reagan, his photographs, and/or quotes in campaign materials and political advertisements, some of it very negative."
(emphasis added)
Very negative? None of the ad is even slightly negative. It's all praise from Reagan and an announcer. Nothing more. No need to take my word for it, see for yourself here.
If Nancy Reagan won't bother to watch an advertisement before condemning it, why should the campaign pay it heed? And who told her it was "very negative"? Dick Wadhams? The lapdog media has had no problem running with Nancy Reagan's objections, let's demand they find out who force-fed her the line about negativity.
