So says the Associated Press, based on a leaked classified report from French Intelligence. Futhermore...
The report further said Saudi security services had their first information on bin Laden's alleged death on Sept. 4.
September 4, huh? How does that time out with Karl Rove's sudden and repeated assurances to GOP leaders that there will be an October surprise that will change everything before the election?
This is, of course, just speculation - so I'll keep this diary short and get your comments on whether this is a reasonable theory or if I'm in tin-foil hat territory. But it seems like a strong, if circumstantial, conclusion to me.
Also, the French are no friends of President Bush politically speaking, which gives them motive to leak this before the White House gets to make its bombshell announcement.
Your thoughts?
UPDATE: More information on the timing of all this:
Raw Story reported this week (specifically Sept. 21) that Karl Rove has spent the past week assuring Republicans that they will get an October surprise. Click the link for more details.
So Karl Rove started bragging about the October Surprise about 10 days after the Saudis became convinced Bin Laden is dead.
