Okay I had the Situation Room on earlier today 5:00 - 6:00 segment for background noise and caught an interview Blitzer was doing with Richard Ben-Vineste. I only caught the tail end of it and I have been looking for the transcript ever since. I was sure it would be all over the blogs and everyone would be talking about what was said, including Blitzer at one point hitting the table in a state of pique(what I perceived to be)at what Ben-Vineste was saying. Was I dreaming? Anyone else seen it. I hope a front pager will diary this (if it wasn't a dream). It was a real eye popper what I heard RBV say about the "interviewing" of Bush with Cheney present. What RBV said basically slams the Bush administration and concurs with Clinton, take that you asshat Kean and Path to 911 perpetrator! Sorry no link, I'm beginning to think I dreamed the whole thing (or worse a V for Vendetta moment), none to be found yet.
UPDATE: They ran the clip again. By now I could have done a transcript myself. The transcript is up to 5:00, but after that nothing. My little paranoid thoughts on this is they had a White House response with the interview the second time that they showed it, I guess they were waiting for that to do the transcript. BTW The WH as usual completely dodged the pertinent question.
Basically what RBV said was that when they interviewed Bush with Cheney present, RBV emphasized at this point that that was by Bush's request (scaredy pants by himself), Bush said that NO ONE had given him the information that the Cole bombing was Al Queda related so he didn't bother to do anything for eight months!!! RBV said he found that astonishing since Richard Clarke was still on board. You really have to see the clip or the transcript to get the full impact of this. I thought it was pretty shocking, not to mention mind boggling. What did it bring to mind, the incompetence of Katrina and "whoever would have thought the levee's would break?"
You know you just can't have it both ways, that your competent to protect people and on the other hand you "just didn't know".
I simply don't get it that the Democratic mantra at this point should be most INCOMPETENT administration ever. Katrina, Donut Hole in Medicare prescription plan, Iraq, 9/11 - add your own ad nauseum. I guess this administration is incompetent would be to simplistic to repeat over and over. Trust them, even the right wing understand incompetence especially when it comes to Iraq, 911 and the DONUT HOLE which is hitting many of them in their big fat wallets right about now!!!
