Everybody- ever since polls, about a week ago, have showed the Democrats finally breaking ground and going ahead, the mood on dkos has changed from "It would be awesome if we win, work our asses off" to "What shall we do once we win?". Look at diaries today-- some about "what will the Democratic Congress do once.." and others about how large our victories will be-- how once competitive seats are now "broken open".
All of this is great. We MIGHT finally have a Democratic Congress. But polls can swing just as much or not more in the next week.
This attitude will not help, and will hurt our chances. With an attitude that Democrats will clearly win and win big, people will not be as motivated to vote or to volunteer. In the past few days people are clearly not as energized for Nov. 7 but rather energized for Nov. 8. Weve gotta stop this, and concentrate back to the day that counts.
Polls do not tell the whole story. Polls change daily. We cannot rely on them to tell us we will win-- and must still fight for every seat.
Republicans still have the money advantage. In the final week of the campaign, this is going to be harmful to us.. they will say whatever lies they can and use a massive amount of money to spread these lies.
If we are up by 10 percent now, make it 15. Its essential that every race be fought like we are behind, or else they will crush us with their money and power!
