twas the night before the night before
america was still at war
saddam was due to die
bush continued to make the country's heart cry
calling truth tellers liars
throwing soldiers to the fire
and over and over in each refrain
the democrats were told they could not win
the senate was lost as chafee and steele closed in
and tester and ford seemed going against the wind
yet than i remembered that change was the new enemy
so ethereal yet more real
than the weapons that iraq did bring
and glad tidings on tuesday we would surely see
every man and woman, every father mother, brother and sister every churchgoer, spiritualist, atheist, gay straight and in between, every blue collar and white collar folk
knew that novemeber 7th was no joke
that the country's roots were being tested
and americans would not be bested
by men and women who coin a phrase
turn truth on its head and feel no shame
no, no way! america would know who to blame
George Bush and all his Chronies .
Christoher Shays, Jim "Un"Talent, Marilyn Mus"Grave"
Names so tarnished in war and lies
To send them back would spell freedom's goodbye.
It would not happen
it could not happen
not this november
nor ever again.
