It's that time of year folks, spring has sprung (yeah...sorry about your Nor'Easter guys...I guess spring sprung and then decided to take a bit of a nap before sticking around for you), and it's NCAA Basketball Tournament time! I'm not a big sports fan in general, but occasionally I enjoy watching some sports, mostly basketball, soccer, and hockey. Fast-paced and busy sports are my thing, and I'm always impressed by how quickly basketball players have to switch up strategy. And of course, there are all those cute players too!
Anyway, tonight, let's talk brackets and teams and players and more :-)
First off, there's this lovely Facebook group, The Official DailyKos 2007 NCAA Brackets Pool, started by the fabulous GoldnI. I'm currently 8 for 12 in my picks, so I'm not doing quite as well as I would have liked. Bummer. I made some mistakes...like picking Marquette instead of Michigan State U, and Texas Tech over Boston College (yeah yeah, that was a dumb one, I know). Hopefully I fare better as we go along.
So that's where I'm standing at the moment. Where are you guys in your brackets? Who do you have picked to win the tourney? Any thoughts on MVP's? etc. Here's your inevitable linky to ESPN.com where you can read up on all the latest news and see the National Bracket.
Let's talk Basketball...
or, if you don't want to talk basketball, feel free to talk about something else and consider this your very own open thread, dedicated to you with love from me :-)

Diary: It's been 3 years since the mill closed
By GrannyDoc
GrannyDoc speaks in no uncertain terms of the devastation in her town
due to the major source of jobs being lost. One small business after
another is gone now leaving behind a community that has been
permanently dismantled. The comments echo this trend in many other
locations across the country. How long before the learned skills are
gone as well?
sheiladeedee enumerates the losses in New England.
stitchmd on underground economies and survival.
inclusiveheart looks into the future on a point I often worry about, too.
superscaler on fallacies and talking points.
ellen818 on the concept and importance of 'essential industries'.
kaaterskill provides some interesting examples of the death of the 'social contract' in his area as a scientist.
From Mehitabel:
bleeding heart reveals that she has concrete evidence that she is not an idiot in kestrel9000's LGF call-out diary.
From chumley:
To the always-righteous Grand Moff Texan, for this excellent comment regarding a none-too-clever LGF troll's diary.
From MissLaura:
Old Gardener is a wealth of information on cramps
From tryptamine:
OldGardener gives excellent and thorough advice for women on how to help
with painful cramps. (This was a popular one, I wanted to pick it too!)
My picks:
clonecone comes up with yet another funny acronym.
pat208 and others discuss shams, very funny.
YoyogiBear and Panda talk about politicians and drug use.
goodasgold is angry about "values" and priorities.
AWhitneyBrown starts off a great thread in Granny Doc's diary, It's been 3 years since the mill closed...
dday details all the crimes that Khalid Sheikh Mohammed confessed to.
