Update. Answered by Mogolori a few days ago. He's Gonzo's former counsel who may well be able to influence the Abrahamoff investigation going forward and is the man responsible for enforcing any subpoenas the senate may issue.

September? Hmm.
follow me?
why?
Former Deputy Interior Secretary Steven Griles has decided to plead guilty to one count of obstruction of justice in the Jack Abramoff corruption investigation, The Associated Press has learned.

Prosecutors dropped earlier allegations that Griles did anything improper to help Abramoff or gained anything of value from the former Republican lobbyist, the AP was told. The agreement does not require Griles to help investigators with their grand jury probe.
In exchange for the plea, federal prosecutors will seek no more than a 10-month prison sentence for Griles - the minimum they could seek under sentencing guidelines - but they will agree to let him serve half that in home confinement, according to one person involved in the case.

Prosecutors in January had outlined other possible charges against Griles. They included ``honest services'' fraud, based on his meetings with Abramoff; lying to Congress about information favorable to Abramoff that Griles had passed on to other Interior officials; and lying to Congress and criminal conflict of interest over a job that Abramoff had offered to Griles.

Hat tip to tpm.
This case in DC federal court is about to go before U.S. District Judge Ellen Segal Huvelle for her to accept or decline the plea deal, so would anyone know if citizens or perhaps a Congressperson could request a judge to delay accepting a plea deal that may relate to greater malfeasance? I'm just wondering aloud, as it were, who the US Attorney is that is in charge of this case. Am I on to the right guy? Can I get any assist in learning anything more about him?
Do you think this is actually worthy of a little attention or am I maybe unfairly singling out the wrong guy? Should we take a look? I'm googling further, but haven't gotten much yet. A little help, please.
