One of the writers from OpEdNews (over 200 articles in the past 18 months) has done it. Jane Stillwater took off for the Middle East not knowing for sure whether she'd make it, so she headed for Kuwait.
But she's pulled it off. She's just posted her first report from Baghdad and it's a doozy. She's interviewed an Iraqi general and to top it off, John McCain.
She also found out that McCain's Kevlar vested little stroll, with, as has been reported on TPM, heavily guards, was through the safest stretch of Baghdad.
The amazing thing is that Jane is a 64 year old woman from Berkeley. But if you know her, and what she's done, it's not so amazing. Earlier this year, her book describing her Haj journey to Mecca was published.
In an article a few days ago, that she wrote in Kuwait, she wrote about her trip over,
On the flight from Holland to Kuwait, the entire PLANE was filled with contractors, pursuing the American Dream -- in Iraq.
Who am I to try to put an end to this perfect world -- just because it is based on the quicksand of a million dead bodies?
Jane is trying to raise money to buy a kevlar vest. Here are her instructions for making a contribution-- either for a vest or to help cover her costs for reporting from Baghdad.
Got any extra Kevlar for my trip to Iraq? If you wanna contribute to my Kevlar fund, I now have a PayPal account. Go to https://www.paypal.com/... click on "send money" and type in jpstillwater@yahoo.com where it says "to". Thanks
This is one gutsy lady. If you have a spare kevlar vest. Let me know, Maybe we can fedex it to her.

She got to ask McCain a great question. He didn't give a very good answer.
Now, she's waiting to be embedded with the troops. I'm confident she'll make it happen.
While having a correspondent in Baghdad is pretty cool, it's not all. In the past few days, we've had reports from our correspondent in Waziristan Muhammad Khurshid (the taliban is getting more active, turning up the culture control with morals police,) Yemen Mohamed Al-Azaki (jihadis are selling inspirational jihad videos in the bazaars,) and Ramallah Nicola Nasser (nine factors affecting the latest peace opportunities.)

in the spirit of full disclosure, Jane is not an official employee of OpEdNews. She is a free operator, like most bloggers on community blog sites. She's doing this on her own. She's an inspiration for all of us. There's no limit to what we can do.
