For those of you who wear contacts & have been blissfully unaware, there was a contact lens solution recall slipped out over the holiday weekend. I diaried on Sunday but you may have missed.
Take a look at this news item: CDC: Don’t use that contact lens solution. The solution in question is AMO Complete Moisture Plus Multi-Purpose Solution.
Folks, if you wear soft contacts or know people who do - make sure they are aware of this recall. Hopefully, it's not their brand of solution but if it is, they may need to be checked.
There is, once again, a connection with contamination from China. My particular bottle says "Made in Spain," but who is to say where the components of this solution were produced?
In follow up, first thing this morning I called my contact lens specialist. I'll be heading over to the office shortly to be checked. FWIW, my eyes have been doing better since I discontinued using that solution, but still bleary-looking.
My apologies that I have to post & run, but I've got some stuff to get done prior to leaving for the eye appointment. I'll check back later. I just want to get the word out to all the other contact lens wearers.
UPDATE: Just back from my contact lens specialist. My particular bottle is not part of the recall - yet. My eyes seem to be clearing up nicely, no corneal damage. What a relief.
Of course, we've been through the pet food recall & remember what a roller coaster ride that was. Today's safe product is tomorrow's recall. I feel certain there was something wrong with that particular bottle.
