I think you should bookmark this url or place it in your own blog folder and I think you will get a better picture about what is happening in Iraq on any day than you will from ANY mainstream press.
This website is the perfect example of how the blogosphere often gets to the point and does the research while the mainstream press works on their fetish for local scandal stories and Anna Nicole's sad life .

Basically the surge is making the troops come out of their fortifications and confront the insurgency in more outposts that interlink. So more targets for the insurgents.

Maj. Gen. Joseph Fil, commander of U.S. forces in Baghdad, says since the increase of troops in Iraq nearly four months ago, U.S. forces have gotten control of one-third of Baghdad. He says that attacks by Shiite extremists are on the rise, in part due to some influence they have on Iraqi security forces. By September he hopes to have a majority of the city under control.
September will come around there will be no change in our policy. Bush is actually trying to tie us down there. He'll make it the Democrats war alright. We'll have to get these kids out ourselves.
