I don't have a lot of time, so this will be a short diary.
I was just over at Raw Story where I saw two stories that, once again, shows us the Democrats who control Congress have no spine. The first story is about how the Senate will go ahead with confirmation hearings without waiting for all of the subpoenaed documents. The second story is about yet another letter demanding documents.
Join me on the flip for more.
These two stories combined make me feel sick to my stomach. I remember how happy I was when I read about how the Senate was going to use it's power of confirmation to force the rogue BuShit administration to finally give them all of the documents they had subpoenaed. I was thinking to myself, "Man, they finally grew some balls! They're finally playing by the same rules as the repugs."
Man was I wrong.
Senate Democrats who bemoaned the White House's refusal to turn over subpoenaed documents in their investigation of the firing of eight US Attorneys won't block Bush's nominee for Attorney General, Michael Mukasey, despite the fact he won't promise to release the files.
They consistently give away any power they have to bring this bunch of gangsters in line. They won't even make Mukasey promise to release the files. I know many will say, "Just wait for the hearings, then they'll get the promises." Yeah well, don't hold your breath. I am quickly losing faith in this group of slugs.
This brings me to the next story.
House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers (D-MI) is demanding copies of two classified opinions from the Department of Justice -- memos that authorized use of a combination of brutal interrogation techniques to gather intelligence, according to the New York Times.
Demanding! "Oh well, just you wait a sec there Representative Conyers, we'll get that right to ya!" This is just too pathetic to go on about. How many times have Democrat controlled committees been flipped the bird now? About 15-20? I guess the next thing that will happen is a "sternly worded letter", followed quickly by a "non-binding resolution." That'll show 'em we mean business.
Sirs and Madams of the Congress, it is not that difficult. It is called impeachment hearings. That is the only way all of these documents, e-mails, and other outrages will EVER see the light of day.
I am out.
