I have my senator, Dianne Feinstein, on speed dial on my cellphone, both the San Francisco and the DC offices, so I can double up on my calls. (Love me some free long distance package!) I call several times a week, because she pisses me off so much.
Lately I have been pestering her office over the Judicial Committee subpoenas which were ignored by Harriet Miers, Karl Rove and Josh Bolten. I want to know why they haven't been arrested.
The Feinstein staffers usually refer me to committee chairman Pat Leahy.
More on the other side...
I call Senator Leahy's office, and explain that although I am not a constituent, I have been referred by Feinstein for the answer to my question. The staffer who answers then transfers me to someone who answers, "Judicial Committee."
I usually ask committee staffer why the three have not been arrested, and I am told that it is still an open subpoena. I ask what action is being taken, and it always seems like the answer is vague. No one seems to know about any pending action.
I pointed out today that President Clinton was required to answer a subpoena for a civil case. I asked why Rove, Miers and Bolten have privileges not available to Bill Clinton, and isn't a congressional subpoena a little more important than a civil suit?
Today I asked the staffer whether she heard a lot of calls on the same subject, and she admitted that there were quite a few.
I'd like just a few dozen Kossacks to join me in calling Senator Leahy regularly to ask about these subpoenas. Let me save you a few seconds on Google: 202-224-4242
