Rudy Giuliani may be the most dangerous man on the face of the Earth - he is the best positioned candidate to continue the failed Bush/Cheney policy on global warming.
How does Rudy hide the fact that his global warming policy is identical to the catastrophic Bush/Cheney record of delay and confusion?
More below the fold.
THE MASTER OF CONFLATION: GLOBAL WARMING = ENERGY INDEPENDENCE
If you have the stomach, watch the videos from the campaign trail.
Rudy has perfected a very skilled, focus group tested message. By repeating it with Rovian consistency, Rudy continues to obscure his OPPOSITION TO ANY MANDATORY CONTROLS on global warming pollution.
He simply, and with disciplined consistency, morphs EVERY question about controlling global warming pollution into a question about energy independence.
Many solutions to energy independence do indeed help solve global warming - solar, wind, energy efficiency, but not Giuliani's. Rudy's "solutions": Can you say coal-fired carbon sequestration (does not yet exist), ethanol (very little if any carbon benefit), and coal-to-liquids (a worse carbon profile than regular gasoline)?
The oil-gas-Rudy-coal political machinery will stop at nothing to impose its agenda for four to eight more years through a Giuliani victory. His policies will undoubtedly lead to more coal plants, more oil consumption, and no controls on global warming.
If this petrocracy is successful, the extended period of Bush/Cheney obstructionism of global Greenhouse gas reductions will likely seal the planet's fate, putting it perilously beyond any hope of limiting runaway increases in global temperatures.
Rudy is the climate's worst nemesis. He must be stopped.
THE PLEDGE - 51 WEEKS TO ELECTION DAY
All new COAL-FIRED power plants should be built with carbon capture and sequestration capacity.
